Design A Civic Engagement
The purpose of our project was to understand what holistic support looks and feels like according to students at Indiana University Southeast. The administration's problem is maintaining and increasing student retention and graduation for the university. In order to do that, the administration needs to understand the roadblocks facing students' success.
We need to understand the problems facing our community in order to find the solutions to support them.
Our design team consisted of:
Jeanette Brown, Newt Herrera, Valerie Webb, Nellie Radke, Kayla Lewis

We started investigating holistic support and then began developing a plan to understand the most important questions to ask participants.
Then we began organizing our ideas as we moved forward with creating an outline of our layout.

After we had our outline we further refined our questions and activities.
We created a prototype and refined that.

Then we began production on the printed survey books.
We assembled the books and paired them with the sewn travel pouches and colored pencils.

Then we distributed them to the Fine Art Department's Bachelor of Fine Art students.
Samples of some of the responses are below.
